About Dr. Matthew Lublin

Dr. Matthew LublinWith an emphasis on minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques, Dr. Lublin specializes in abdominal surgery and weight loss surgery. He also performs surgery on disease processes related to the esophagus (for heartburn, reflux, or hiatal hernia), stomach, spleen, gallbladder, adrenal glands, small intestine, colon, thyroid, parathyroid, breast, and hernias.

Residency: The Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City

  • Upon completion of his residency in 2003, Dr. Lublin was awarded the Mount Sinai Hospital David A. Dreilling Award for Academic Achievement.

Dr. Lublin completed a laparoscopic bariatric (weight loss) fellows course at the Ethicon Surgical Institute and the American Society for Bariatric Surgery’s Essentials Course in bariatric surgery. He has also completed the laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding course given by Inamed and Ethicon and has received certification to perform the Lap-Band and Realize Band, respectively.

Interests and Specialties

In addition to weight loss surgery, Dr. Lublin has a special interest in groin hernias and gallbladder disease. He has performed over 500 laparoscopic gallbladder removals and over 200 laparoscopic inguinal (groin hernias).

Dr. Lublin has been published in articles on bariatric and laparoscopic surgery in many surgical journals including the Annals of Surgery and American Surgeon. His experience has featured him as a speaker at many prominent national meetings. He also teaches courses to other surgeons on the performance of laparoscopic hernias.

Dr. Lublin has always wanted to bring a high level of surgical care to the community of his roots. Dr. Lublin practices at St. John’s Health Center, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and West Hills Hospital.

He is married and has two sons.
